Sales and the 'Talent Magnet'

A lot is written about being a ‘Talent Magnet’, either as a company, or as President. It’s all good practice – listen, mentor, reward, provide clear goals and career maps. Good practice for the employer, but what about the employee?

ISIT Solutions Overview

Before you can even think about getting more value from your storage dollar, you need to have a strategy in place. At ISIT we work to recast your existing storage policies into a strategy aimed

squarely at future corporate needs. For us, it means working with you to understand where your

storage needs are growing, which collaborative environments require support and what business needs drive that growth. ISIT offers a range of storage and data management solutions aligned to meet business needs. We also take the complexity out of it with our approach to segment our offering under three categories – STORE, STRUCTURE and SECURE.

Storage Consolidation

The most successful enterprises today are those who intelligently manage their information to derive maximum business value. Information typically held captive on islands of disparate applications across the enterprise fail to provide maximum business value. Data is difficult to access, difficult to share, and cumbersome and costly to protect and manage.

ISIT believes consolidation is an important first step in implementing a proper information infrastructure to help enterprises achieve maximum value from their information in the most cost effective manner. With our experts at hand, architecting the right storage architecture, based on a SAN, NAS or iSCSI, achieving simplification of the storage infrastructure, centralisation of it, efficient management of data, optimising resource utilisation and lowering operating costs become achievable goals.

Data Classification

As enterprises implement strategies such as Storage Consolidation and Tiered Storage for optimizing their storage infrastructures and lowering costs, the ability to intelligently classify, search and manage unstructured information becomes essential. However, it is difficult to deliver a consolidation or tiered storage project effectively if the data to be consolidated is not well understood. ISIT enables enterprises discover, understand and classify their data as an essential pre-requisite to implementing a proper tiered storage infrastructure.

Offering a combination of software and services that will be used to deliver this solution, classifying information based on metadata, ISIT can help enterprises understand, classify and manage their data based on the information that is inside.

Information Lifecycle Management

Data needs to be aligned with the appropriate class of storage based on its business value.

Information Lifecycle Management is increasingly becoming a strategy among enterprises to optimize their infrastructure to lower their operational costs and offering the right service levels to their application users.

In addition to proper data classification exercise, the true Information Lifecycle Management solution will offer the ability to automatically migrate data between the various storage tiers based on predefined policies. ISIT is able to offer a true Information Lifecycle

Management solution both within a single Storage System as well as across multiple storage subsystems, also taking care of data archiving and automatic expiration of data for systematic

reclamation of storage capacity.

Storage Virtualisation

IT organisations are increasing the agility and efficiency of their operations by adopting virtualization at all levels of their infrastructure at a rapid pace. Virtualisation is being introduced in their server, storage, application, and desktop environments. Storage Virtualisation essentially makes scores of separate hard drives look to be one big storage pool. IT staffers spend less time managing storage devices as management tasks are centralised.

Storage virtualisation simplifies today's diverse and complex network storage infrastructures by enabling organisations to manage their heterogeneous storage systems as a single pool.

Virtualisation enables you to reduce your total cost of storage ownership through intelligent deployment of tiered storage, simplifying management, enabling easy migration or replicate data across heterogeneous storage systems and extending the life of existing storage assets.

Capacity Optimisation (Deduplication)

Companies are now faced with explosive data volumes. Backup windows are shrinking. More data needs to be backed up in less time and backup images need to be reliably and cost effectively moved to a DR site. Simply adding more storage and more bandwidth is no longer acceptable. Enterprises are considering ways to maximise resources and better utilise technology while containing costs.

ISIT’s experience can help customers do just that. Planning for better storage capacity can not

only helps reduce spends on storage infrastructure, but also improves performance and reliability of backups and data restoration. Capacity optimisation technologies can enable the storage of 20-50 times more data on same capacity and makes data backup to disks and electronic vaulting of backups for disaster recovery a more viable option.

Data Protection/Backup/Restore

In looking to build an effective data strategy and structure, the items most likely to top the list are data protection and governance, compliance and the effective integration of information security practices into key business and risk management efforts.

Backing up your data might not seem important—until you need to retrieve it. ISIT believes an

effective storage security needs to be a multi-level effort, which includes important aspects like:

  • BACKUP TO DISK
  • BACKUP TO DISK TO TAPE
  • SNAPSHOTS

Compliance

Historically, it's been standard practice to manage risk, comply with regulations and secure

technological assets through independent, siloed departments. Now organisations are approaching risk, compliance and security as a single integrated challenge. ISIT works with customers to mitigate risk of litigation and risk of compliance-based penalties. By automating the enforcement of compliance directives and audit reports, pre-defined templates can efficiently enable compliance for common directives like SOX, BASEL II, etc.

High Availability/Disaster Recovery

Disaster recovery and business continuity planning are processes that help organisations prepare for disruptive events and ensure that their critical business data always remains highly available. Upon careful study of the requirements, ISIT delivers Disaster Recovery solutions utilizing Host and/or Storage based replication.

Database Archiving

Preventing database bloat with archiving helps organisations maintain healthy disk-space capacity and prevent performance problems. Even though data is growing across organisations, typically most of this data remains inactive in production systems, where it cripples performance. Many enterprises are in the midst of compliance initiatives that require the retention of more data for longer periods of time, as well as consolidation projects that result in significant data growth. It is time to mandate the need for formulating and activating an archiving strategy rapidly.

Wan/Application Optimisation

Today's enterprises are highly distributed with a large percentage of the workforce working outside of corporate headquarters. Technical decision-makers see consolidation as a means to protect, maintain and administer remote data resources more reliably and cost-effectively. Boosting WAN throughput therefore remains critical to the success of any enterprise consolidation initiative. Talk to ISIT to understand how an emerging body of solutions referred to as Wide-Area File Services(WAFS) or Wide-Area Data Services (WADS) in particular offer a variety of technologies to optimise bandwidth usage and accelerate throughput over long-distance links.

Storage As A Service

The Internet has had a profound impact on storage and this trend is defining a new set of requirements for storage infrastructures and establishing a new set of best practices for sourcing, building and managing storage environments. The Internet is also spawning a new dimension within the storage industry itself – Storage as a Service – and given rise to the storage service provider, who offers the delivery of storage services using the Web as a delivery vehicle. ISIT is pioneering the delivery of Storage as a Service in the region and can equip your organisation with the capacity and the ability to manage storage in a scalable fashion.
