Internet compatible and residing on an organisation’s IT network (TCP/IP), a Cardax FT system holds extensive information about cardholders and the site. It has been designed to share this data with other business management systems making it particularly attractive to many sites. Potential benefits include a single source of cardholder data entry and record maintenance, reduced data errors and less time and money spent on database management.

Information held from various sources can be linked to Cardax system events, for visual and auditable records that can be relied on for evidence. Cardax FT uses industry standard OPC to interface to Building Management Systems to achieve efficiencies in energy, i.e. lighting, air-conditioning, space utilisation. Gallagher prides itself in a record of innovation. It has received worldwide acclaim from architects and interior designers for its Cardax reader design. The Cardax Prox Plus 125 reader has an illuminated PIN pad to allow a cardholder to enter a personal identification number, in conjunction with their card. An LCD panel provides user feedback icons, making the system easy to use internationally. The LED and speaker also provide enhanced visual and audible feedback to the user.

Available in Cardax Cool Grey, or Cardax Charcoal, the Cardax Prox 125 and Mifare readers suit a wide range of installations. The reader housing is injection molded in a high strength, high impact resistant, engineering plastic alloy proven over many years in the Cardax product ranges. They are UV protected to prevent fading. Protective Reader Covers are also available to help protect readers against vandal attack and harsh environments.

In addition to popular 125 kHz reader technology, Cardax FT supports Mifare smart cards which provide the ability to have multiple applications – for example pre-paid metering, cashless vending, library, loyalty schemes – all reside on the single security card. The card can also store physical and/or behavioural characteristics (biometrics signatures) for automatic personal identity verification.

Integrations with third party security systems provide a wide range of technologies to suit different applications. High level integration between the Cardax FT and SAGEM fingerprint readers (including the new SAGEM MA 500 range) provides a full integrated biometric access control solution.

CommCard, a unique high level integration between Cardax FT and Salto off-line readers, delivers cost effective, electronic access control. It is particularly suited to doors that:
• require some level of security, but the cost of a fully wired and monitored door cannot be justified
• do not require real time monitoring.
• generally do not require access mode changes.

Visitor Management is fully integrated within Cardax FT to deliver extensive visitor pre-registration and reception-based visitor management. It is ideal for multi-tenanted buildings in that a main reception may view all visitors, but a tenant may view only visitors arriving at their reception desk.

A  Software Maintenance Agreement programme ensures sites receive upgrades and keep pace with ongoing technology developments.
