Sharjah Electricity and Water Authority (SEWA) has strengthened security of its IT infrastructure with the adoption of an integrated anti virus solution of Kaspersky Lab.
The 2,800-license project was implemented in four phases based on the geographical split and user number.
“The implementation of the new system will further improve and support the Information Technology infrastructure of SEWA and will provide a higher degree of protection, work environment safety and productivity,” said Mohammad Abdullah, Managing Director Technical Services, SEWA.
On the other side, Oman’s Ministry of Education has implemented a new online virus detection solution for 35,000 PC terminal users in response to rapidly increasing malware volumes. Following a competitive the Ministry has adopted the antivirus for Windows Workstation of Kaspersky Lab.
“The detection rates of the previous vendor’s solution could not keep up with the rate of infections and the Ministry of Education took the decision to identify a new solution to resolve the issue at endpoint level,” said the Ministry’s spokesperson Ali Bin Suleiman Alhanai.
“We chose Kaspersky Lab because of its high detection rates of viruses and the solution’s ability to perform with the minimum resources possible. Our tests of Kaspersky Lab’s product on one of our live servers showed that it detected and removed more malware than any other solution we tried.
“We have already seen the important benefits the new products have introduced to our operations through compatibility with existing IT security infrastructure, higher detection rates, user friendly interface and ability to maintain high performance without slowing down our systems,” said Alhanai.
The Ministry of Education of Oman has also acquired a further 1,000 Kaspersky Antivirus for Windows servers licenses for its network of servers across the Sultanate. It took less than four months for the Ministry to implement the full solution across its network.

Also, Kaspersky Lab won Best Security Application Range by Network Middle East Innovation Awards - The NME Innovation awards are the longest running awards for the networking sector in the Middle East, and they represent the very best that the region has to offer. The quality of the projects that were nominated, and of the companies and individuals, stand as proof of the levels of expertise and professional standards that are to be found in the industry.
In 2009, Kaspersky Lab rolled out a new channel program through its first regional partner conference in Dubai, which gathered 100 distributors and resellers from across the Middle East and Africa.
The new partner program is designed to be the next step in the evolution of the relationship between Kaspersky Lab and its channel partners. The program is designed to streamline partner business relations, while increasing transparency and harmony amongst the channel partners. Moreover, the program calls for partners to align their sales strategies to their core competencies in addition to ensuring that the partners are equipped to deliver value to their end customers. The channel programme defines five distinct partnership statuses, each specialising in a particular segment of the market. The partners are required to fulfill certain evaluation criteria which include requirements of technical capability and support infrastructure. This particular event ended with an awards ceremony rewarding top performers in various categories ranging from overall annual sales, innovative marketing, best regional business deal etc
The consumer republishing partners are mainly focused on retail space, value added distributed, while the enterprise partners are focused only on business products, and both are required to sell to Tier 2 partners. Tier 2 partners where not excluded out of the equation, and therefore, they have been provided with “Authorized Reseller” certificates by Kaspersky Lab. In addition to that, Partners have access to deal registration programmes, tailor made marketing campaigns to suit their needs.
Kaspersky Lab continuously proved their commitment to their partners, and has been continuously providing them with trainings, seminars and support enablement. Last quarter of 2009, Kaspersky Lab conducted a regional road-show, which included Egypt, Jordan and KSA. The key driver for conducting this series of road shows is to educate our channel and our user community on the overall strategy of Kaspersky in the Middle East and introduce them to the new release of our business products and how they can help the user community navigate emerging security threat landscape.
